by Duane L. Ostler

Price: Free! Approx. 13,270 words. Language: English. Published on August 3, 2013. Category: Nonfiction » Social Science » Abortion & Birth Control. n This book gives the views of the founding fathers against abortion, and describes the surprising truth about the common law abortion rule which was misinterpreted by the court in Roe v. Wade. A Beer With The Devil

by Darryl Harrison

Superb! Astonishing! Free Ebook A Beer With The Devil is in fact the ultimate installment of tales having just as much vitality, chaos and also at times hilarious. In case you haven’t learned your lesson based mostly on the detrimental mayhem these kinds of unhinged characters have created in this ebook I truly feel totally sorry for your ass my friend. What alcohol consumption and really serious drug abuse have done to these folks confirm what I’ve proclaimed all along exactly how dangerous this stuff may cause. I don’t in any way inspire anybody to enjoy psychotic drugs binges and together with liquor. The primary yarn is referred to as The Scandalous-ass Birds. This unique account regarding wicked-ass birds that thwart airport terminal officials and also the death of countless spa...

The Unpaved Road

by Robyn Jane Sheppard

This is a short autobiographical account of my transition from someone who was identified as male at birth, but was never happy that way. After several years, I realized that not only was I meant to be a woman, but that I had the means to become my true self. While this book contains adult content, it is not an "adult" book in the classic meaning of the word....

Fear Psychology

by George J Cole

Bundled with the Fear Psychology thesis is a review paper entitled “A Century of Psychoanalysis”, which discusses an old psychology that has not yet expired. It introduced ideas that were radical and alarming at a time when sexual matters were not for public discussion, but what was probably more alarming was the concept of 'unconscious' motivation of behavior. This aspect of the theory tends to have been forgotten or ignored....

How to Teach Children to be Sex Offenders

by Jane Gilgun

This small book outlines steps parents can take to teach children how to be sex offenders. It's easy. This part is satire. Next I discuss what parents and a concerned public can do to prevent children from becoming sex offenders. Prevention is hard. People must really want to do it. Apparently, not enough of us do. So, we will keep on raising children to be sex offenders. Is that what we want?...

Istanbul Intrigues

by Barry Rubin

This is the story of Istanbul--but also of Turkey, the Balkans, and the eastern Mediterranean--during World War II, based on extensive interviews and the use of archives, especially those of the OSS, which I was the first to see for this region. The book is written as a cross between a scholarly work and a real-life thriller. The status of Turkey as a neutral country made it a center of espionage, a sort of actual equivalent of the film “Casablanca.” Aspects of the story include the Allied-Axis struggle to get Turkey on their side; the spy rings set up in the Middle East and the Balkans; the attempts of Jews to escape through Turkey; the Allies’ covert war in Greece, Yugoslavia, Hungary, and other countries; and the first accurate account of how the Germans recruited the British amba...

Recapturing the Reluctant Radical: how to win back Europe’s populist vote by…

by Counterpoint

Support for right-wing populism in Europe has steadily gained attention from media and policy-makers over the past decade. Most of this attention, however, has been focused on the core supporters of right-wing populist parties – the members and the street activists – at the expense of the topic of this publication, the ‘reluctant radicals’. These are our main protagonists: the soft, uncommitted supporters of RPPs. They are crucial for two straightforward reasons: the reluctant radicals are the bulk of RPP support as well as those who can most easily be brought back to the mainstream, thereby depriving RPPs of their main electoral base. This publication is the first of a series produced within Counterpoint’s project ‘Recapturing Europe’s Reluctant Radicals’. Our aim here is...

A public information system for transparency in Pakistan

by Muhammad Abd al-Hameed

Government must be transparent to the people if it is to serve them well. This book offers a plan to create transparency in all government operations with the use of available technologies. The plan is primarily for Pakistan but any developing country may adopt it with modifications. The book describes how every home can have a personal computer with Internet connection. It explains how, with the help of the District Government, every district can have a radio station, a television channel and a daily newspaper, for access to public information and to create effective interaction at local level between the people and the government. Government can also make information accessible by providing copies of records on request, even of secret ones after declassification. It emphasizes that ever...

The proposals for amending the Constitution of Pakistan

by Muhammad Abd al-Hameed

Politicians and media commentators in Pakistan have been demanding for decades the “restoration of the 1973 Constitution,” without realizing what it will mean. In its original form, the Constitution reflected primarily the wishes of Z A Bhutto. Still, he himself made seven amendments that changed about 60 Articles. He ensured his perpetuation in office by requiring that somebody must stick his neck out as the alternative to him and get himself nominated in a resolution of no-confidence before it could be moved in the National Assembly. He also exercised all powers by requiring that no act of the President would be valid without the countersignature of the Prime Minister. Gen. Zia ul-Haq, who came after him, heavily tipped the balance of power in favor of the President. He even enshrin...

Lokalt ledarskap för hållbar utveckling

by Peter Örn

TIN TABERNACLES: How Religious Fundamentalists Took Over the Republican Party

by Willard W. Olson

These comments were written in 2005. In some areas, my comments are somewhat dated. The continually aggressive efforts of the evangelical fundamentalists in their quest for political power in the United States has not changed during these intervening years. It has only intensified. The Republican Party as it was once constituted has vanished to be replaced by litmus tests of religious purity. While it can be honestly suggested that the Democratic Party is overburdened by political correctness, the current Republican Party is literally hamstrung by religious correctness. In the process, the vast majority of Americans are being victimized by these extremist perversions. We now witness the destruction of the middle class in this country. Possibly we need look no further than this competition ...

The book gives a comprehensive plan for eradication of poverty in Pakistan. It offers answers to all questions: How will lifetime occupancy of housing and buildings replace ownership? How will the new system generate regular income more than the present federal budget of three trillion rupees, despite abolition of all taxes ? How will transparency be ensured in all transactions and corruption in all forms eliminated? Who will start and undertake reconstruction all over the country, without giving any active role to the government? How will new self-sufficient settlements replace present villages? How will every family get a modern flat and space for business in new settlements at a nominal rent? Who will provide free education and healthcare for all? How will all Government employees ...

The Arab States and the Palestine Conflict

by Barry Rubin

Hundreds of books and thousands of articles have been devoted to the history and contemporary course of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The confrontation within Palestine, the participation of Great Britain, the United States, and the United Nations, and the impact of these events on Jews and Palestinian Arabs have all been endlessly chronicled. Surprisingly little attention, however, has been devoted to the question of how the Arab states entered the battle in the first place. In addition to tracing the events involved in the growing intervention by Arab states in Palestine, this book attempts to analyze two specific issues. How did internal conditions in the various Arab countries affect their involvement in Palestine? How did the network of alliances and conflict among the Arab governments s...

The Economics of a Storm

by Catherine Jaime

What happens when a major storm barrels through an area? In addition to the tragedy of loss of life and loss of property that accompanies so many of these storms, we also see shortages and cries of price gauging. That's Entertainment: The Observation Principle from Bentham to Foucault (Oceania)

by Charlie Canning

When George Orwell published his dystopian novel 1984 in 1949, many believed that the totalitarian state that Orwell described couldn’t possibly come into existence by the year 1984. Others thought that it was already manifesting itself on both sides of the Iron Curtain. Since 1949, we have gone well beyond the nightmare world of Orwell’s 1984. In Orwell’s day , the power to crush an individual was in the hands of the state and Winston Smith clearly knew where the blows were coming from. Now any loose confederation of individuals within a community can completely destroy a person’s life. The chief way that the state exercises power in Orwell’s 1984 is through surveillance. In Orwell’s futuristic world, the surveillance work is done by camera, much the same as it is today. But ...

Four Major Reasons to take Jesus Seriously

by Dr Michael Jarvis

In this article I will firstly look at some significant scientific evidence relating to the Bible documents. This is necessary since a discussion of Jesus Christ relies in large measure upon these written accounts. I then present four major reasons why the person of Jesus Christ should be taken seriously. These are: 1. Because he made very specific predictions about future events that came to pass in great detail after his death. 2. Because so many details of his life were fulfillments of Old Testament Bible predictions relating to the long expected Jewish Messiah. 3. Because he performed spectacular miracles like no one before him. 4. Because his resurrection demonstrated that he really was who he claimed to be. As a scientist, I like to approach these questions, as if investigating a ser...

Censorship, Liberty, and Truth

by Michael Brulotte

A sentiment exists among our leaders today that citizens are children and need to be protected. The belief has spread with viral depth. It has persisted with religious tenacity, and the state is at fault. The state is at fault with its paternalistic zeal, with its judicious abandon, and thus we find ourselves beneath its dark umbrella. We are shielded by an effort meant once to avert our eyes from the shadows on the wall, but which now has blocked the sun. No censorship that is unintended to preclude a form of violence or to stem egregious consequence should ever exist at all—lest ignorance over truth prevail. The people of our nation are brave and determined. Our citizens in decades past are the men and women who pressed westward against a violent wilderness, who fought for independence...

CDR: I, Citizen

by M.T. Bass

CDR: I, Citizen explores one of the most powerful forces in the universe. Without Citizens, the map of the earth would be as borderless as the surface of the moon. Without Citizens, a government is just a bunch of empty buildings – you know, like a business without customers. Taking the Citizen out of the equation is like taking the speed of light out of Einstein's E = MC2 – No Energy, just Mass. The Citizen's Desk Reference is not a civics or a history book, a political manifesto or a manual for community organizing or an attempt to sway your vote left or right or otherwise.

by Bo Rothstein

by Svenskt Näringsliv

"Chain of Trust" uppnås mellan parterna. ISD utgörs av en process...

by Svenskt Näringsliv

Our Bankrupt Elite

by Andre Michaud

Under a thin layer of deceptive apparent normality, a tragic cultural suicide is under way by massive de-alphabetization of the population due to a severe lowering of the general knowledge base of the elite, caused by a decades long out of control degradation of the education system. **** The failure through ignorance of proper pedagogy by Quebec's pedagogues to address the critical need for children to be taught to read and write properly before the end of the first year of primary school resulted after 40 years of neglect in 50% of Quebec's active population being categorized as functionally illiterate in 2003 by the OECD despite systematic scholarization up to junior high school, with worse figures yet now taking shape for 2012. The author shows us that, if we mobilize modern science now, we could easily develop a new economic system to create the dawn of a new era of economic democracy to allow everyone to share in the economy....

Cauldron of Turmoil: America in the Middle East

by Barry Rubin

Cauldron of Turmoil was written as a history--that I hoped to present in an exciting narrative way--of the dramatic developments in the Persian Gulf in the 1970s and 1980s and how they made this area the highest priority for U.S. foreign policy. The combination of Iran’s Islamist revolution and the Iran-Iraq War transformed the Gulf region from a relatively quiet backwater into the world’s most tumultuous lands. It gave rise to the modern powerful movement of revolutionary Islamism. And later, it would produce the Kuwait war, American invasion of Iraq, and the September 11 attacks, among other events. Yet America and Americans were not prepared for this new priority and challenge in a part of the world about which they knew little and understood less. Even today, two decades after this...

Essay: THE WRITING EFFECT

by Karol Bojnowski

Thanks to scientists like Dr. John Searle, Mills Professor of the Philosophy of Mind and Language at University of California- Berkeley, some key points about us Homo sapiens have been established. These points are rather remarkable. It turns out that the big step between civilization and more primitive forms of human society is written language. He says writing constitutes civilization. It is the infrastructure of civilization itself. Writing is a virtual reality environment for the human mind. The key word is virtual. It has affected who we are, how we think, how we remember, how we organize. We aren’t born with it. Homo sapiens must learn how to live as civilized human beings. Advanced forms of civilization, such as killing others because we disagree with them, marriage, or becoming a...

To facilitate the explanation and the delivery of the material, an e-book will be published in each set of topics. The following are the planned titles of the book series: Your Wealth The first book looks at the time savings gained by a single person increasing his physical and mind assets in an island. The Wealth of Your Neighbor The second book is about the agreements that two people have to make to be in a path to increase their respective wealth. Passion och innovation

by Emma Stenström

by Lars Trägårdh

by Maria Oskarson

Our Place in the Twenty First Century

by Stewart Edwards

This book is about our very survival. It is a reflective look at the type of people we have become and about where we are going. In short this book is about you, an individual human being and how you fit into the bigger picture of life. We start by examining the sort of people we really are, and the traits that hold us back, before moving on to looking at how our world we call home is changing. We then develop onto our place in the universe and our place in the twenty first century....

The Sanctuary Movement: How Broken Immigration Policies Affect Cities

by Kyle W. Bell

The current debate over immigration policy in the United States divides political parties and individuals alike. Both sides would agree that the immigration system is broken. Evidence of this systematic failure is glaring: there are twelve million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, the federal government lacks a comprehensive enforcement and naturalization strategy, and sanctuary cities have been created to protect undocumented immigrants from deportation. Cities such as Chicago and San Francisco have limited ability to deal with immigration issues, yet have acted to protect their citizens from deportation. By providing services to undocumented residents, cities have been forced to live with the consequences of an inadequate federal response to an issue that the Constitut...

47% Benghazi

by Evan Williams

A brief essay on the 47% comment by Mitt Romney and the controversy over Ambassador Rice's comments on Benghazi. This essay can be characterized as pro left. It is a quick read and its a non conventional look at these two events and how the media fell short. Here is an EXCERPT: CBS host Bob Schieffer actually asked that specifically. "Do you agree or disagree with him that al Qaeda had some part in this?" Schieffer when saying "him" was referring to Mohamed Yousef El-Magariaf whom he was speaking with just before Ambassador Rice. Her response: "Well, we'll have to find out that out. I mean I think it's clear that there were extremist elements that joined in and escalated the violence. Whether they were al Qaeda affiliates, whether they were Libyan-based extremists or al Qaeda itself I thi...

The Gamble: The Hand You're Dealt

by John Sides & Lynn Vavreck

This is the first of a series of free ebook preview chapters--scheduled to be released between August and December 2012--from a groundbreaking book in progress about the 2012 U.S. presidential election. What are the odds that Barack Obama will be reelected in November, despite a weak economy? Many answers to this question are backed by little more than speculation and spin. But what does current and historical data--and political science--suggest? In this chapter, political analysts John Sides and Lynn Vavreck show that Obama is surprisingly popular given the state of the economy, and they offer several explanations--including Obama's likability and the fact that more people blame George W. Bush for the country's economic problems than blame Obama. But Sides and Vavreck also show that the...

During the fall of 2011 and early last winter, it seemed as if Republicans wanted to nominate anyone but Mitt Romney. One after another, Romney challengers shot to the lead only to collapse under the scrutiny of the media and voters. Sides and Vavreck argue that the rise and fall of other candidates was due less to any signific...

Justice--Liberty or Equality

by Total Health Publications

After visiting The Colonies, the libertarian paradise, Commander. Gulliver and his friends meet a professor to talk about what is justice for a society. The ideas of justice rest on the three basic assumptions for our values as discussed in book 4. But another continuum needs to be addressed when looking at justice in a society. This deals with the equality to liberty continuum. The first question to discuss is whether or not we humans are equal or unequal. If we are equal then equality should be shown throughout the society, including the equality of wages or economic equality. If we are not equal then we should have the freedom, the liberty, to achieve to whatever levels we desire––including financial liberty. Revolutionaries generally emphasize equality. The citizens believe they ar...

Be A Rational Pessimist

by Bhaskar Sarkar

Lots of people feel that Optimism is positive and Pessimism is negative. They believe that every one should be optimistic. Optimists believe that people should not worry about their future or the future of their children but just enjoy the present. The Author believes that Optimists are a dangerous breed. Ronald Regan, an optimist, believed that financial institutions were best regulated by market forces and dismantled the regulatory mechanism established by the United States’ Administration to monitor the activities of banks and other financial institutions after the Great Depression. His optimistic deregulation of the banks and financial institutions enabled corporate greed to create the Sub Prime Mortgage Bubble that burst in 2007-2008 causing the global financial meltdown and brought...
