This is good news for those of us who desire a diverse market place. Now let's all hope B&N actually makes the decision stick. The waffling they've done so far has not enhanced their credibility. Or their market share.

B&N will need a unique selling proposition for their new tablets and it's not clear what they can do to distinguish their tablets from all the others. In the UK market they used to compete as the cheapest quality Android tablets, but new devices such as the Tesco Hudl and the latest Kindle Fire are now cheaper and have higher specifications.

There is also the question of whether Microsoft's investment in the B&N eReader division will ever come to anything - might we finally see the legendary "Wook" (Windows Nook) running Windows RT?
