How can I use my NOOK now?

Ok so I am a bit behind on what's going on but this is it:
I haven't used my nook in a very long time and yesterday I went to use it to find that I couldn't download any books or connect to the shop etc. I did a search and found they transferred to Sainsbury's and then KOBO. I never received and email and as I wasn't using it at the time, wasn't in the loop. I have contacted B&N who cannot help me and neither can Sainsbury's. I contacted KOBO but am waiting for a reply. I am not too worried about losing the books already on the device, I just want to be able to use it to download books and read - can anyone help?
