Barnes and Noble are shuttering their Nook store in the UK on the 15th.

You need to take action by the end of May in order to retain purchased content. Instructions to be sent via email.

Just received an email from Nook providing the instructions for transferring my account from Nook UK to the "award-winning" Sainsbury's Entertainment on Demand. First step is to click a link... which displays:

Well, that's a great start!

Seems that Nook jumped the gun - obviously can't wait to get rid of us. Another link to the Sainsbury's site says that they are still "putting the finishing touches to the process" of transferring the accounts.

Transfer to Sainsbury's Entertainment account worked this evening. Once in they say they will notify you when your books and magazines have been transferred and in the mean time give you a £5 voucher to use on new titles.

There is also a video and step-by-step tutorial on how to download your books for the first time to your Nook. There are 31 steps involving a PC and a USB cable. The equivalent process to load up a new Kindle is 1) Log in to Kindle, 2) Type in WiFi password, 3) Books magically appear.

I haven't received an email yet, but a look in the Library under my Sainsbury's account shows all my books there, but so far it's a no show for all the magazines.

Hello there,

A question - this may seem trivial but I'm assuming that once you've transferred to the sainsburys account the display on your nook hd homepage no longer shows the 20 or so nook-purchased titles you can currently swipe through? And if I do nothing regarding the transfer I won't be able to see or read these titles anymore? - maybe we don't know at this stage. I would experiment but I don't know whether you can transfer one book at a time. And don't get me started, by the way, on whether or not you can transfer your library to a micro sd card.....

I've tried asking B&N but predictably hopeless - they just offer you a Q&A link. I have very little purchased nook content so I'm not desperate to do this transfer, but I'll see.

Thanks in anticipation,

D
